I purchased a remanufactured manual transmission
from Phoenix Hard Parts during the summer of 2006 after they promised they could
supply the transmission in 5 days.
This transaction was a nightmare from the get go dealing with Frank Kuperman,
the owner, John Decker, the manager, and Phoenix Hard Parts.
The story begins when I am told the day before the transmission is supposed to
be ready that there is only a 40% chance that it will in fact be ready by
tomorrow. Not good odds if you ask me. So I finally pick up the transmission a
few days later from their hole-in-the-wall business establishment in the middle
of the desert. I knew something was fishy from the get go.
First attempt -
They supply me with the wrong transmission for a different model than what I had
ordered.
Second attempt-
Transmission not ready in time again. Transmission does not shift. What ever
happened to the transmission being tested as promised?
Third attempt -
Was not going to happen, so I asked for a full-refund and reimbursement of labor
costs for my mechanic.
I received partial refund finally but I am still out the labor from installing a
defective transmission as well as other costs for having my daily driver out of
operation for over a month. Not to mention the time and money spent dealing with
incompetent and deceitful scumbags. My core was even returned to me in pieces!
Do not do business with Phoenix Hard
Parts. You will experience the most awful customer service, your calls will not
be returned, will be cheated out of your time and money, and wish you had
stumbled upon these reports before hand!

wouldn't trust them to put a chain back on a bicycle
These guys got the best scam going ever. 1.) great website, plus they are on
e-bay so anyone looking for a used transmission will see it. 2.) promise
it's in stock and will be shipped to you in 3-7 days. 3.) It's dirt cheap
and you can buy a 4yr/48,000 mile warranty for under $500, what a steal
(literally, they will steal it) 4.) Very friendly and prompt BEFORE the sale
is finalized. 5.) The owner frank use to be on the board of directors for
the Arizona Better
Business Bureau (trustworthy man, no?) So, I took the
bait and ordered a transmission on the 2nd of may 2008. After waiting 7 days
and still no tracking number; I called and they said it was still being
rebuilt. I said, "but wait, wasn't it in stock and ready to ship when I
ordered it?" No answer, just that it was being rebuilt, and will be ready by
the end of the day. 4 days later, still no word or tracking number. Call
again, and again they said it was being rebuilt. I said "WHAT YOU'RE
REBUILDING IT AGAIN???" And again, they said it will be done in a couple and
days and it will be shipped out. My mechanic shop didn't get the
transmission until the 29th of May. The next day, my mechanic calls me and
tells me that transmission fluid was leaking out of the pan, and the pan had
a big dent in it. They took the pan out to replace it and they found 2 bolts
inside the pan. I was very scared at that time, but the tranny was already
installed. I took it out for a drive and found out that 4th gear slips and
5th gear doesn't work. The car takes forever to speed up in 4th and when it
shifts to 5th, the engine revs freely to redline. I've tried to call and get
a hold of someone since I bought the platinum warranty, and all I've got
from the receptionist is, they are busy, they are not available, they are
out, give me your number, and I'll have them call you back. Of course,
you've all guess by now that they won't call you back right? I did get to
talk to them a couple of times during the two weeks, but all they did was
give me the run around, like I need the P-codes. Well I've given them the
Audi VAG-COM codes, as well as the P-codes via fax, as well as verbally
giving it to the receptionist over the phone, because obviously I can't get
a hold of Frank the owner. Based on reviews here and ripoffreport.com, I'm
ROYALLY SCREWED. I'm out $2750 with this crappy scam artist of a company and
12hrs of labor with my mechanic for a WHOPPING TOTAL of about $4000.00 LOST.
This isn't over yet, and he's not going to get away with stealing money that
I work so hard to get. We need to inform as many people as possible about
this scumbag and try to get his business shut down forever so others won't
have to go thru this hell. It's obviously fraud, because how can a
transmission be professionally inspected when there's a big dent on the oil
pan? How can you dyno test a transmission when 5th gear isn't there, not to
mention with transmission oil leaking all over the floor. This proves that
they don't inspect or test ANYTHING!!

Fraud Alert!!!!!!
Just wanted to give
members a heads up on a
transmission shop in
Phoenix Arizona. I was
talking to my Dad today
who lives in Washington.
He is in his 60's,
retired and a diehard
CTD Owner, and takes
great pride in his truck.
But because of his
limited income he tries
to find a good deal when
it comes to repairs.
Anyway aparently he
found a trans shop
online in Phoenix to
rebuild his auto trans
in his 01 ctd. Now that
it is installed he is
having issues with the
way it operates. Can't
seem to get a good
answer or help from
anybody at the business.
But the thing that burns
me more than anything is
the $850 core charge
which they have so far
refused to give back,
and just give him the
run around as to why
they havn't sent it.
Anyway this is the name
of the business. Which I
have learned have
several DBA's

Well he is a proud man
and is reluctant to ask
for help when it comes
to these things. I just
found out about it when
my mom let it slip. I
just wish he had talked
to me first I think I
could have prevented it.
Afterwards I did a
search and found that
there have been several
of the same type of
complaints.
So anyway this is just a
warning to anybody out
there who may be in the
market for a
transmission rebuild to
stay far away from these
guys.
PS: If there is anybody
in that area who wants
to go over there an
break out a can of
Whoopa** on the owner.
I'll buy you a six
Pack!!!

I purchased an AXOD transmission from this firm;
it had the standard warranty and was advertised
as "Dyno Tested". The transmission was received
in the fall, but since I live up north and was
doing the installation outside, it was not
installed until spring.
Not a problem, right? After all, it was stored
indoors, "rebuilt" by a "reputable" company, and
"Dyno Tested" prior to delivery. WRONG! The
transmission is UNUSABLE as delivered. It
chatters bad in reverse and first gears, as
though the clutch-pack clearances are too great.
It misses the shift from first to second.
There is NO WAY this transmission was "tested"
after overhaul, at least not by anybody who had
a clue what they were doing! With the problems
it has, I'd guess it was removed from a junker,
degreased and cleaned up, strapped to a shipping
pallet, and sold to me.
Frank (the owner) has not returned my e-mails,
the web site contact information is hosed up,
and even if this company eventually returns my
money I'm still out a lot of
labor time (especially now that I have to
procure a GOOD transmission and change it AGAIN),
have lost-vehicle use time, and their
advertising remains fraudulant.
If a company states they test their overhauls,
they should test them! An overhauled
transmission should work properly upon
installation. My advise to consumers or shops is
Buyer beware. If they cannot be trusted to test
as promised, and are quick to sell but
unresponsive when problems develop, enough said
... take your business to a REPUTABLE shop - not
to this one.

Another
Case !!!!
July 7,
2003
http://www.pissedconsumer.com/consumer-reviews/equipment/phoenix-hard-parts-transmissions-opinions-%11-auto%11equipment-2003070863128.html
Do not buy a thing from these people. Their
products absoultyly suck.
I went to
Phoenix
transmissions for an AX5
Jeep Wrangler Transmission. The transmission
that was sent to me went bad after 400 miles.
They then sent a Second transmission, that too,
went in 400 miles. On number three now, and just
waiting for it to go.
I could write a book on this
nightmare experience. As the
transmissions went bad, they didn't
even want to send me a crate to ship the thing
back. How in the F*$% do you pack up a 100 pound
oily Tranny and ship it across the country!
A-holes.
I'm out $1,000 in Labor and the company does not
want to refund any labor money for the worthless
transmissions they sell. Mike laughed
in the
phone
at the request.
Frank and Mike are the owners/managers and are
completely worthless. Have you
fella's been to Annapolis, perhaps we'll
meet in
small
claims
court. It's only going to cost me $29 to file.
Keep an eye out for your
court
date!
